It's Day 3 of Sustainability Week! That means more activities and more opportunities for students to learn about the environment. Today we held sustainability-themed science experiments in the courtyard, where students learnt about filtering water and how much effort it can take to make our water clean.  Students also learnt about why oil spills are so dangerous for our environment by investigating the mixing (or inability to mix) oil and water. Finally, students learnt about erosion where we compared rainfall impacts on a sand-hill model with no support versus a sand-hill model with rock support and a model with plant support. Students saw how dramatically our river banks, hills and other natural slopes can be protected through plant-life and structural support.
